Girls in Technology Sprint #1

Finally we have got some footing developing first group of University Girls to lead Girls in Technology project and IoT Equipment are in procurement process, and be available in July.

The most existing news is that we connected to Oxford Entrepreneurs (OE), Europe’s largest student startup society to conduct a summer of code program for university students on advanced technologies emerging from July 14 to October 14 online. This program will engage University Girls to form small teams and learn Python, JavaScript and advanced industry skills including AI .

1WMTT is already making a huge impact and going parallel to the GiT project. A remarkable success story is GiT beneficiary and University Team Leader was choose as 1MWTT Sri Lanka coordinator and co presenting Today at 8PM ICT .

University Program

We jump started training of University Girls in Coding and IoT with scratch and microbit, in a two day residential workshop in Kandy for 16 participants from Universities of Kelaniya, Sabaragamuwa and Rajarata.

Schools program

We have started school program in small scale in 4 schools . ISOC LK exco is working on a stakeholder meeting to get the program endorsed to school nationwide by Education Ministry.



ContentWe are in touch with ICT teachers and online community, delivering project learning resources on microbit, python, IoT and Java Script and more through GIT hub. It's going viral now.

Mid July is a key period we start testing GiT live online channel . Most work done by girls supported by professional tech mentors help. We are looking for right candidates in industry.

Current Sprint started on April, was really tough getting the project on ground and developing core project team at ISOC LK. We believe its done well.  Thanks for all supported ISOC, CSSL, Shilpa Sayura and Fb community we have got momentum.

Next sprint shall be from July 8th - October 20.

1 Million Women To Tech – Summer of Code program FREE from Oxford Entrepreneurs (OE), Europe’s largest student startup society, formed by Volunteers of the  University of Oxford in the UK.

Would you like to learn how to code? Are you already a pro who would like to get more hands-on experience? We have just the right learning program for you.



1 Million Women To Tech is a 3-month global program running from July 14th - October 14th. It is FREE and focused on bringing more females into software development. Women can take free online coding courses and work in teams on programming challenges and join weekly and monthly hackathons. You can win prizes and get introduced to top employers too.
